Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What is the International Trainers Academy (ITA)?
The International Trainers Academy is an association of NLP Trainers who have been certified by John Grinder, Carmen Bostic St Clair and Michael Carroll. The overall mission of the ITA is to improve the quality of NLP Training on offer to the public. We do this by ensuring member trainers have themselves the highest level of NLP skill, and member trainers continue to develop their skills through continuing professional development.
Q. What are the benefits of selecting a course that is run by an ITA Trainer?
Your trainer will have studied at Trainer level with John Grinder, Carmen Bostic St Clair and Michael Carroll and will have demonstrated the highest level of competence. If you are choosing an NLP Practitioner course from a certifying member your certificate will carry ink signatures from John Grinder, Michael Carroll and Carmen Bostic St Clair.
Q. Can any NLP Trainer join the ITA?
Membership is exclusive to people who have taken their Trainers Training with John Grinder, Carmen Bostic St Clair and Michael Carroll. This means every Trainer in the ITA has experienced a robust NLP Trainers Training course and thorough certification process before being awarded a Trainers Training certificate.
Q. What standards does the ITA expect of its trainers?
The ITA has published a set of minimum competencies for trainers to expect from their own student. The ITA also has various formats for trainers to follow. The ITA Trainers themselves have been rigorously tested to ensure they have sufficient knowledge and practical skill to train competent Practitioners.
There is also a Code of Ethics that each ITA member is expected to follow.
Q. Do all the Practitioner Courses offered by an ITA Trainer follow the same format?
The ITA considers its relationship with member trainers as a partnership. This means we respect the individuality and skill of member trainers to design NLP courses around a set of published suggestions for minimum Practitioner competencies and formats for training. All ITA Trainers will submit their course syllabus, course material and advertising material to the ITA for approval.
Individual trainers will use different formats depending on their training style and people who will attend their courses. Some courses may be more specialised e.g. NLP Business Practitioner and NLP Practitioner for medical professionals and so on.
Q. How does the ITA differ from other NLP bodies and associations?
The obvious answer is that it was set up by the NLP co-creator John Grinder to ensure his NLP work is trained to a high standard and there is support system for trainers certified by John Grinder, Carmen Bostic St Clair and Michael Carroll.
The ITA also expects its Trainers to continually update their skills and present evidence of continuing professional development. The learning journey does not stop at Trainers
Training there is always more development and learning. At NLP trainer level continuing professional developments is more important than at any other level in NLP.
